-Also known as cougar, puma, panther, or catamount
-Largest wild cat in North America
-These felines are found from Canada to Argentina = largest range of any mammal, aside from humans, in the Western Hemisphere, hence their many names!
-Powerful limbs enable them to leap as high as 15 feet and as far as 40 feet
-They hunt deer, beavers, raccoons, rabbits, birds, and other small mammals
-Mating Season: December-March
-Offspring: 2-4 kittens
HERE AT ALAMEDA:
The male you see is ‘Rocky’ and the female is ‘Noelle.’ Noelle likes to steal fish from Rocky to show him who is boss. These mountain lions often catch birds that made a wrong turn into their enclosure.
