-These small deer grow no more than about 1.7 feet tall!
-Native to Taiwan and central and southeast China, they have also been introduced to the UK
-Males: Possess short, simple antlers that protrude from hair-covered bone structures called ‘pedicels’ and small, tusk-like canines
-Males AND Females: Possess preorbital glands under the eye sockets (puffy slits you can visibly see) from which secretions are used to mark territories
-Eating primarily vegetation, flowers, nuts, berries, and fungi, they will occasionally feast on eggs or other animal matter
-Mating Season: year-round
-Offspring: 1-2 fawns

We have a total of muntjacs here at our zoo, spread out in 2 different exhibits. Can you spot them all? We have 3 males (with antles). Manny is in the duck pond, and the other names Timmy is with the red kangaroos..
